Who and What?

Rini Kioko Hall is an endurance runner and illustrator based in Washington.

The 1000 Mile Challenge emerged during a period of personal disorientation, when direction felt uncertain and forward movement became both literal and necessary. Running began as a way to create distance from overwhelming emotion, but gradually became a structure for rebuilding focus, discipline, and self-trust.

Across one thousand miles of training and racing, movement transformed from escape into intention.

Alongside the miles, Rini developed twenty-two original illustrations reflecting imagination, fragmentation, and redefinition — visual markers of psychological change unfolding over time.

The resulting work, released as a spiral-bound First Edition limited to 110 copies, preserves that process rather than its resolution. The pages remain unfinished until touched by another person, reflecting the belief that growth is participatory and ongoing.

Rini continues to train in ultrarunning while developing future creative work exploring endurance, identity, and transformation.
